Within our vicinity, winemaking holds an established tradition that represents viniculture of superior quality. Dating back to Byzantine years, the famous ‘Malvasia Wine’ (aka Malmsey or Malvasoia) held a prevalent place within the courts of kings and nobles throughout Europe representing one of the eldest variations available on the market (Le Livre des cépages. Hachette, Paris, 1988). Even since the Classical Greek era, there are noteworthy reports that present wines stemming from our province as holding a prominent sweet aromatic capacity that thrived within the marketplace. At Liotrivi Organic Estate, viticulture (the cultivation, protection, and harvest of grapes) and enology (the science of winemaking itself) runs in our ancestry blood. It is a tradition that has been passed down from generations and is founded on the original grape vines, recipes and methodologies utilized from our predecessors. Being constantly prosperous by the warm bright climate and the varied soil altitude of Laconian landscapes, we specialize in both local and European varieties made from grapes that have been sun-dried in the well-known sunsets of our region. We thus create unique blends on white local variations of Monemvasia, Roditis, Malagouzia and Kidonitsa as well as red versions of Agiorgitiko, Mavroudi and Smyrnio. Apart from these regional variants, our grapes, microclimate and expertise favor the European varieties of Cabernet, Merlot and Grenache Rose.

At Liotrivi Organic Estate we cultivate the above wine assortments and produce exclusive concoctions. Our harvesting is being carried out every September manually with great care. The procedure of winemaking is performed within the winery of our Estate, ensuring full control over the production process and with the use of latest accessible equipment. We produce small quantities of each variation with meticulous quality. The storage and packaging of our wines takes place within our premises using oxygen isolated conditions, thus ensuring that optimum quality is maintained.

Standards which Constitute our Wines Distinct:

LADY OF THE VINEYARDS: DRY WHITE

The local varieties of Kydonitsa and Malagouzia coexist in this exceptional white wine, in a marriage of flavors and aromas that fascinates. Kydonitsa, known as a delightful group of almost “extinct” and sparse varieties of the vine (with domineering notes of ripe quince) in combination with the intense, extremely expressive nose of Malagouzia (unfolding hints of peach, green pepper, basil and wildflowers) give an extremely attractive expression of wine with dynamic complexity. The result is a vibrant white wine with rich yellow hues that unfolds multifaceted aromas of yellow fruits, melon, peach, banana and citrus. In the mouth, the wine is round and full, but always fresh with balanced acidity and with a fragrant aftertaste that lasts.

LADY OF THE VINEYARDS: SEMI-SWEET WHITE

A distinctively superior wine expression based on the authentic vineyards, recipes and methodologies utilized by our predecessors who produced the famed wine of “Malvasia” that held a prominent position in the courtyards of royals in Europe. It combines a distinct origin, representative of a rare generation, while at the same time encapsulating charming organoleptic characteristics that immediately fascinate lovers of aromatic and round white wines. Crafted from sturdy ripe local grapes that are collected and processed by hand before being sunbathed in the sun for 10 days. This methodology proliferates both the aromatic capacity of the fruit as well as its acidity, since in this way, apart from the sugars, there is also a multiplication of the natural acids of the grape. The result is an elegant wine with a particularly floral sensation of white-fleshed fruits and an attractively bright crisp ivory color with green highlights.

From the vineyards of Liotrivi Estate where the harvest is carried out manually at the end of September and the wine is stored in oxygen-isolated stainless still tanks.

The elegantly aromatic Lady of the Vines asks for her summer platters some fresh fruit, light pastries, white chocolate or milk desserts, millefeuilles, apple pies, tiramisus and in contrast desires the combination of intense cheese assortments such as Brie, Blue Stilton, Goat’s cheese, as well as Olives. It can also very pleasantly be enjoyed alone as an Aperitif.
